Welcome to The Alton Primary School

Thank you for visiting our website. The Alton Primary School is a friendly, vibrant and inclusive school at the centre of our local community, located just by Richmond Park. We were judged Ofsted 'Good' in November 2019 and are part of the Quality First Education Trust. We have one class in each year group, a nursery and a SEND Resource Base.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Alton!

Admissions Policy and Appeals

The Alton's admissions policies are available on our policies page.

If you are unsuccessful in gaining a place at The Alton School , you have a legal right to appeal this decision.

As an academy, The Alton School is its own admissions authority. However, admissions to The Alton for reception are still processed by Wandsworth Council’s pupil services section.

We subscribe to Wandsworth Borough Council's admissions appeals service, which manages appeals on our behalf. Please visit Wandsworth Council's School admission appeals for the contact details of the appeals service, guidance notes, the appeal form and the current appeals timetable. Parents wishing to appeal should contact the School Appeals Service on 020 8871 7554.

You can also refer to information about appeals published by the government. The Appeals Service is an organisation that runs independently of all local schools and the council.

CHANGE TO ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS FOR 2025-26

The Quality First Education (Q1E) Trust recently consulted on a proposed change to the admission arrangements for The Alton School, to remove the requirement for families of siblings to live within 800 metres of the school. The consultation closed in January 2024 and the trust board considered all responses. The Trust has now made this change, for reception entry in September 2025 and beyond. Our hope is that this change will support our families, keep siblings together, and make our admissions policy easier to understand.

You can download our consultation document for full details of the proposal that was adopted.
